Advanced Rules for backgammon
The Doubling Rule At the start of the game, the doubling cube is placed between the players with the number 64 on top means the game is not doubled. A player may double at will before they roll the dice. The opponent may then choose to lose the game or accept the double. The player who accepted the double is than the only player with the priviledge of doubling.In an optional rule called beaver, player who accepted doubling can redouble instantly and keep the doublung cube for himself.
Bertha If a player accidentally moves a 6-5 roll from the 24 to the 13 point without noticing that the opponent has secured their 6 and 7 points (normally illegal) and the opponent haven't noticed it either.
Crawford Rule Sometimes applied in a match when someone gets within 1 point of winning the match. On the next game the doubling cube cannot be used. However on subsequent games the cube is again available for use. The Crawford rule was intend to reward the player getting to match point sooner by not allowing their opponent to simply double with no cost every subsequent game.
